Establishment

The Department of Community Medicine was established in January 2006 in a beautiful separate building, adjacent to main Sheikh Zayed Medical College / Hospital Complex, Rahim Yar Khan established in early 2003.

Head Of The Department

Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Yar Malik MBBS, MCPS, FCPS who was appointed as Associate Professor took the charge as Head Department of Community Medicine and still he is working on the same post.

Facilities

The Department consists of six offices, a Museum with capacity of 50 seats, a Lecture Hall, a Laboratory, a Computer Lab. (all air conditioned) along with Store and toilet enclosures. This is a nice building with wide corridors and spacious rooms.

Achievements

Department of Community Medicine is affiliated with University of Health Sciences Lahore. It has been recognized by Pakistan Medical & Dental Counsel (PMDC) Pakistan and has accreditation with College of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP). Two classes have passed out with almost 100% results. Three staff members have registered for FCPS and MCPS in this Department.

Medical counseling

The Department has started the counseling of patients and community to create awareness about health promotion. The guiding and motivating patients and clients is an important function to change and modify attitude & behaviours of the individuals, families and ultimately the communities. Health counseling is receiving special attention in the prevention of acute and chronic diseases for early seeking of treatment and its best compliance.
