INTRODUCTION AND ESTABLISHMENT
The department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, SZMC was established in 2004, temporarily in Biochemistry department of the college. When the current building was acquired, it was shifted and then renovated and modified according to the needs and latest trends of this important specialty.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim
MBBS, DOMS, M. Phil (Pharmacology).
He was transferred from QAMC, Bahawalpur as regular Associate Professor in 2004, and then promoted as Professor in 2005. He has the honour to establish this department from the beginning. He has been working as Chief Warden Hostels, Chairman of Procurement department, Sports President and as Principal of this institute for one and a half year.

Research and Publications
He carried out research on “Neuromuscular blocking activity of Cimetidine and Ranitidine and its interaction with d-Tubocurarine and “Suxamethonium”. He also got eight research papers published in standard medical journals in his credit. He has also attended number of workshops and seminars held at various places.

Experimental Laboratory
It has been designed according to the latest trends, and consist of all equipments for performing practical. It is vast enough to accommodate about 70 students at a time, yet about 30, to 35 students come in each batch for practical. It has a store room for storing the equipments. The laboratory and corridor has been decorated with beautiful charts made by students, artists of the college and graphic designers of Pharmacology department. Latest research apparatus “Power Lab” has been added which is time tested, reliable apparatus for performing most of the practicals of Pharmacology for teaching and research work.

Museum
is well lighted and decorated. It consists of available preparations of drugs of all systems in various cabinets for ready reference. It also concludes specimens of Pharmacognosy and Charts, elaborating relation of recent drugs with herbals medicines.

Departmental Library
a departmental library comprising of a number of books of Pharmacology and allied subjects has been maintained in the department for consultation and ready reference for teaching staff of the department.
 
Animal House
There is one animal house for keeping various animals e.g. rabbits and frogs for the practical of the students and for the research purposes.
