Establishment

The department was established in 01-09-2004. It is the backbone of SZMC, RYK.

Facilities

The Department of Physiology is the back bone of sheikh Zayed medical college Rahim Yar Khan. It consists of five offices, one well equipped laboratory, and an auditorium with most modern teaching facilities like over head, slide projector and multimedia. The lecture hall has got seating capacity for almost 130 students. The laboratory has the capacity for more than 50 students at a time. The department also has computer facility to maintain departmental record, prepare lecture slides & demonstrate audiovisuals CDs. A departmental library comprising of a number of books on Physiology and allied subjects has been maintained in the department for consultation and ready reference for teaching staff of the department.

Achievements

Physiology department topped 5 times in all Punjab medical colleges in last 4 years. Physiology department also conducted extracurricular activities. Winning Best Paper Presentation Award by students of 2nd Year MBBS at 10th Biennial International Physiology Conference held at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Hyderabad in April 2006.

Having 4 Original Research Papers got published in Journals of National and International repute.

Having got 3 Original Research Papers at various stages of publication after acceptance.

2 Research Projects at hand to be conducted in near future at undergraduate level.

Presented five Research Papers by Students and Teachers of the Department in 1st SAARC, 11th Biennial International Physiology Conference held at Shifa College of Medicine, Islamabad in NOVEMBER 2008.
