Establishment
The department of Neurology started functioning in August 2006 after the establishment of Sheikh Zayed Medical College.

Facilities
Currently the department is affiliated with Medicine unit—I for its indoor patients. The electromyography laboratory of the department provides electrophysiological tests for patients suffering from neurological disease. The tests include motor and sensory nerve conduction studies, repetitive nerve stimulation studies and electromyography.
Achievements
The department has a twice-weekly out patient service, emergency service, indoor and neurology consultations to other departments. There are 20-30 patients in outpatient clinic and more than 1000 outpatient are admitted yearly in the ward. The department is also providing mandatory training in neurology for postgraduates doing FCPS in Internal Medicine. The academic activities include CPC’s, case presentations journal club meetings and research.
Future Plans
In the future there will be a separate department for neurology. Further plans include establishing a neuroelectrophysiologic laboratory with facilities of electroencephalography (EEG) as well. To get the department recognized by the University of Health Sciences and college of physicians and surgeons Pakistan for postgraduate training in neurology.
