ESTABLISHMENT:
The Plastic surgery & Burn department was established at Sheikh Zayed Medical College/Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan in February 2008.
RECOGNITION OF PLASTIC SURGERY & BURN DEPARTMENT BY CPSP & UHS:
Plastic Surgery & Burn Department Sheikh Zayed Medical College/Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan has been recognized with the UHS and CPSP for MS & FCPS (Plastic Surgery) postgraduate training from 07.07.2014. The General Surgery postgraduate residents (PGRs) are regularly rotated to complete their mandatory plastic surgery rotation for FCPS & MS training. Under graduates of MBBS programme are taught basics of plastic surgery.

FACILITIES:
Plastic Surgery & Burns Department is providing services to burn and other patients who need plastic surgery from South Punjab and Interior Sindh. Plastic Surgery & Burn Department consists of 26 beds. Plastic surgery & Burn department is rapidly progressing and expanding under the full guidance and support of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem, Principal, Sheikh Zayed Medical College/Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan. The plan is to establish the most modern & state of the art Sheikh Zayed Burns & Reconstructive Surgery Institute at Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan.
SERVICES:
Plastic Surgery & Burn Department is providing 24/7 emergency services to burns and trauma patients. We are doing a variety of cases including Burn Reconstruction, Cleft Lip and Palate surgery, Congenital Facial and Hand Anomalies, Skin Cancers, Breast Surgery, Post Traumatic Reconstructive Surgery, Vascular Anomalies, Head and Neck Cancer, Otoplasty, Soft Tissue Reconstruction of the Upper and lower Extremity, Hand Tumors, Vascular Disorders of the Hand, Management of the Burned Hand and a large number of other cases. We are always enthusiastic to work in collaboration with other departments to provide maximum services to the patients.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
During the calendar year 2024 there were 719 admissions, 3309 out-patient visits, and 648 operations were performed on a wide variety of plastic surgery patients. Postgraduate trainees of FCPS and MS (plastic surgery) are being inducted regularly through CIP program.
