MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to provide high quality radiological services that improve patient care and enhance the quality of life. We strive to provide timely, accurate and compassionate care, leveraging cutting-edge technology and expertise to improve patient outcomes.

BRIEF HISTORY AND ESTABLISHMENT OF RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

1. District Head Quarter Hospital Rahim Yar Khan was established in 1952 and the Radiology Department was formed at the same time with single X-Ray Unit. Sooner it became a prominent Hospital in the D.H.Q. Hospital chain in the Punjab province.
2. With generous funding by H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan, Head of U.A.E. new block of DHQ Hospital was constructed. With this expansion, this hospital gained the status of largest D.H.Q. Later on, hospital is renamed as Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex Rahim Yar Khan. Radiology Department was improved by creation of additional posts of Radiologist and four Assistant Radiologists and was provided with new X-ray equipments.
3. With the establishment of Sheikh Zayed Medical College, this department was upgraded again in the year 2004. The posts of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, Senior Registrar and Admin Registrar were created.
4. Rahim Yar Khan is present at a unique place in Pakistan and is situated at the junction of Balochistan, Punjab and Sindh provinces. The large catchment area and variety of ethnic distribution soon lead this hospital to a major diagnostic place.
5. Radiology Department is now well equipped with Hi-Tech diagnostic facilities for the patients. M.R.I. 1.5 Tesla (Siemens) was installed in 2011. Department has fourteen (14) X-Ray Machines; Mammography, Digital Fluoroscopy Machine, Six (06) Ultrasound Machines with Four (4) Color Doppler. Latest model 128 slices Helical C.T. Scanner with real time virtual Colonoscopy, peripheral and coronal Angiography and DSA (Digital subscribed Angiography) machine was installed in 2020. The department has 05 work places named Indoor, Outdoor, Emergency Departments, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Healthcare centre and Gynae OPD. The department of Radiology also provides portable X-ray and ultrasound services.
6. Last year in 2024 259361 patients of outdoor, Indoor & Emergency from Medical, Surgical and allied specialties availed diagnostic facilities from this department.
