HISTORY: DHQ Hospital had already existing functional Eye Department and now the addition of faculty members and installation of modern machinery made it an important center of excellence for the huge area of lower Punjab, upper Sindh and most of areas of Baluchistan. Sheikh Zayed Medical College Eye Department is playing an important role in managing down trodden people from its catchments area and providing the services for which they previously had to travel either to Lahore or Karachi. Our faculty consists of highly qualified and experienced teachers and surgeons. We have five fellows, three diploma holder Doctors and one Optometrist with good teaching and clinical experience. It is to be noted that almost all the doctors including Medical Officers presently working in Eye Department have postgraduate qualifications. Our Department is providing excellent services to the common public. This is evident by the poem presented to our Departmental staff by a patient named Mr. Shahbaz Lahoti. This patient was operated upon for both his eyes in April 2007.
Ophthalmology Department of Sheikh Zayed Hospital was established from the start of the District Hospital Rahim Yar Khan in 1952.
