INTRODUCTION OF DEPARTMENT:
Nestled in the heart of RYK, located at the junction of three provinces (Sindh, Punjab & Balochistan) lies the prestigious Sheikh Zayed Medical College / Hospital, a beacon of excellence in maternal and child healthcare. Established in 2003, this institution has grown to become a corner stone of obstetrics & Gynaecological services in the region.
Gynae Unit-III stands for its dedication to patient care, education & research under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Saima Zulfiqar. She is an author of research papers and ensures that the unit thrives in both academics and clinical excellence.
The unit offers a wide array of services including:-
- Emergency care services available 24/7.
- Comprehensive OPD services such as Gynaecology, Antenatal care, Infertility management & Family planning, performing OPD procedures like Pap Smear, Pipelle Sampling.
- Specialized diagnostic facilities including state of the art “Cervical Cancer Screening Facilities”.
The unit also boosts a well structured training program for Postgraduates students pursuing FCPS & MS. To nurture their academic growth, the unit organizes:-
- Twice a week academic classes for Postgraduate residents & House officers.
- Weekly journal club.
- Regular Morning meeting, statistical services, audit & perinatal care discussions.
- Clinical risk management sessions and maternal mortality audits to enhance patient safety and care quality.
Unit has meticulously developed SOPs to ensure consistency in managing Emergencies, OPD & Indoor cases.

PROJECTS / DEPARTMENTAL EXTENSION / SPECIAL FEATURES:
We have recently completed project of revamping of our ward. These facilities have been transformed to feature a modern design, providing comfort and care for our patients.
We continue to face challenges with a high volume of patients often exceeding our bed capacity, as Sheikh Zayed Hospital is a key referral center drawing patients from three provinces Punjab, Sindh & Balochistan.
HEALTH SERVICES / STATE OF ART FACILITIES:
- We offer advanced obstetrics care, handling emergencies like placenta previa, PPH, Eclampsia, Ruptured uterus & Puerperal sepsis.
- Specialized gynaecological procedures such as Fistula repair, Vaginal hysterectomy, Sacrohysteropexy, Sacrocolpopexy, Vaginoplasty, Prandtl’s and procedures for Uterovaginal prolapse are frequently performed.
- Complex surgeries for Endometriosis, Gynaecological oncology and LAVH are also a key focus.
- The facility is equipped with state of the art Hysteroscopy and Laparoscopy tools.
